hey guys

currently squizzing around the sites for a toyota under $5k, also include s13 in there but not a toyota but still tempted. Ae86's with the 4AGE are kinda pushing the $5k limitt but there are a couple i may be able to get for just under hopefully (pending response from seller). I'm also looking at twin cam AE82's but they are getting a fair bit oold now so not sure how reliable they would be. Aims are anyways for it to be a daily with not too extensive mods, just something to have fun whilst driving to and from work and the shops etc. Currently i own a Corona and i hate it as it's carby and well they dont start up the best especially during winter! and it's an old car so im looking for something newer and more reliable!

Ae86 is something i would buy already converted to 4AGE and do up a bit over time so it doesnt have to be immaculate.

I also love mx83 cressida's but don't know much about them? Would they be a reliable daily? I've heard the 7m-ge isn't very nice at times with head gaskets going commonly? For me getting one around $2k would be ideal and a grande which you can but just not many in SA, seem to be interstate unfortunately. ADASH=P is selling one for $2500 but has slight damage to left front hand side and the motor has done 250,000kms so im not sure if it's going to pop soon or let go? my corona has done 258,000 so yeh and it's 8yrs older! With the cressids i would lower it a bit so is there a coilover available for this car or is it just the cut springs/lowered king springs way? and also is it legal putting in a 1JZ or maybe even 2JZ N/A? same family motor and 6cyl so shouldnt be too hard to rego in SA?

Ke70's are a little bit whorish atm but for under $5k i can get one with 4AGE just gotta wait for one to pop up. However again not sure about the legalities if a cop was to look at the engine. Which is same for AE86 but my argument is: it's same displacement and everything it's just EFI. So in fact it's less pollutant than the carby 4A-C that was in it before so really im doing the environment a favour in binning the 4AC lol! Same with 7mge to 1jz! surely the 1J is more economical / less pollutant than the old 7m?

anyways guys if you have owned any of the vehicles please provide feedback!

Thankyou

Jamie

tempted to buy a cheap old 5spd mk3 supra and do it like the one on riskydevil.blogspot.com the blue one. would be sick as. cheap too me thinks as a drift car. it obviously works as a drift-able platform due to this guy using one. they look good too. different from everyone else and their s13/s14 etc
